If you believe in some god or creator, he/she/it must be pretty darn smart.?

If someone was that smart to create such a vastly complex universe, from quantum phyics to humanatiy, to an eternity of undiscovered things, why invent suffering or "evil" (in a broad sense) in the first place, why not just create the universe in a some state of utopia where all the negative stuff is impossible to do, or wouldn't even be thought of or acted out cause it wouldn't have been created to be possible.
