Can someone try and help me figure out the name of this movie again?

The same conversation with my friend involved another movie and it was about how the Earth's population of women was dying off because they started getting this sort of cancer or some sort so women were rare but treated as a valuable item. The main character is a guy who has a dog as his best friend since a long time. He then meets a woman that he is trying to protect from the men. Eventually the woman realizes she has the cancer too but doesn't tell the man. Later on that night she starts feeling horrible and eventually tells the man she has it. All weak and hungry she has to be carried by the man as they head to what they heard was a "utopia". At one point their car(I think) or something runs out of energy so they can't advance due to the condition of the woman so the man does a hurtful decision and kills his best friend(the dog) for meat to keep the woman alive. She then realizes the dog is gone and the man starts crying telling her it had to be done. She doesn't eat and eventually passes away due to the sickness. The man then starts on his journey to the "utopia" until he reached this sort of mountain or thing he had to climb and he had a gut feeling the utopia was across it. Just as he gets to the top he sees a sort of futuristic land for quite a bit until a robot guard shoots him. Any ideas guys? T.T(im not so good with the details)
